Another longstanding business in New West is officially no more.
In a note recently posted to the window of its now former space—at 337 6th St.—the Head to Toes Spa says it is permanently shutting down.

It is unclear what the cause of the fire was. Previous requests by The Anchor to Head to Toes Spa to disclose the cause of the fire were directed to a lawyer; the lawyer said they could not comment.
“On behalf of Head to Toes Spa we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your loyalty in choosing us as your preferred spa for the past 24 years as it has been a pleasure to serve you all,” the note explains in part.
The spa was previously damaged in a fire, which happened in April of last year. This also resulted in MLA Jennifer Whiteside’s physical office—located next door—shutting down until the space was safely restored.
“The New Westminster community office sustained significant fire and smoke damage last April due to a fire in the adjacent unit. Thankfully, no-one [sic] was injured, but the extent of the damage has rendered the office uninhabitable until repairs to the main building are undertaken,” a statement a spokesperson to The Anchor from the minister’s office reads.
“In response to this unexpected event, MLA Whiteside and her team have been serving constituents with a mobile constituency office, connecting with constituents at community events, and have been meeting with constituents in-person as needed in New Westminster.”
The spokesperson went on to say Minister Whiteside could be contacted by phone and email, and that staff would be returning to the office once the landlord was able to complete repairs to the building.
There were previous questions about whether the spa would be able to refund the balances on gift cards, with some saying they’d tried to reach out, but to no avail.
