LOCAL NEWS

325 Agnes St. / Google Street View

The City of New West says it’s officially moved to put residents at 325 Agnes St. in other housing as the building’s many deficiencies have not been addressed by its landlord.

“The City of New Westminster’s Integrated Services Division, and New Westminster Fire and Rescue Services, have made multiple attempts with the landlord to address unsafe conditions…to protect the life safety of tenants,” a release from the city reads.

“Actions have included revoking the landlord’s business license in July 2022 and issuing multiple fines totaling tens of thousands of dollars. Despite these efforts, the owner has remained non-cooperative and the tenants continue to live in unsafe conditions.”

🍾 New Year’s in New West

A handful of local spaces are offering options this year if you’re looking for a place to ring in 2024. If you can still grab tickets, of course!

  • Steel & Oak. They’ll be serving up a three-course menu by Tultepec, though the cut-off to have food during your NYE experience was earlier this week. Tickets to attend and enjoy some beverages can still be purchased online.

  • Sapperton District Tap House. They’ll be hosting a ticketed New Year’s Eve event as of 9pm on Dec. 31. Please note that at this time the event is sold out.

  • New Year’s bash. Georgie’s will be hosting an event...and entry is free.

  • Kelly O’Bryan’s. The pub will have extended hours for New Year’s Eve, but reservations are first come, first served. Call 604.553.8339 to make a reservation.
