Black History Month continues!

📣 Neighbourhood bulletin

📚️ New chief librarian. Carolyn Caseñas has a resume that includes Simon Fraser University and Surrey Libraries. Her first day with the New West Public Library was Feb. 12.

🎟️ Last call. There’s still some time to enter the NWSS Music Auxiliary Spring Fundraiser—get yourself some tickets and support a great, local cause!

🏃‍♀️ Running for New West Family Place. Vanessa Woznow will be running all around New West this Saturday! She’ll be accepting donations until the end of this month. 

🏘️ Renting for newcomers. What are the rights and obligations of a tenant? Learn more at this hybrid (online and in-person) event taking place at the New West Public Library’s main branch. It’s happening Saturday, Feb. 24 at 2pm.

🗞 In other news

Wildfire petition. A petition with thousands of signatures has been delivered to the BC Legislature, asking for changes to the province’s wildfire plans. (CTV Vancouver)

Arrested. Abbotsford Police say an arrest has been made after someone deliberately drove a vehicle towards two people on Wednesday. (CityNews Vancouver)

Debt dilemma. A recent report notes more Gen Z and younger millennials are being forced into moving back home with their parents, amid all the debt they’re taking on. (The Record)

Federal funding. The federal government is promising more than $700M in funding to help with care for BC’s seniors. (CBC)
