The Record is reporting that foul play is not believed to be involved after a body was found in a bathroom near Fraser River Middle School over the weekend. According to the outlet, the washroom in question is maintained by the City of New Westminster. You can take a look at the full story via The Record’s website.

🙅 Front Street closure. This closure will start on Feb. 5 and will be in place for about a month. You can get all details about the closure through Pattullo Bridge Partners page. 

🚓 Police board meeting. The next meeting will take place on Feb. 20 at 9am. You can attend online or in-person. 

📋️ Now open. New West Craft is accepting applications for its spring markets. Fill in an application online. 

🚔️ Ride-along. Two New West Police officers will be taking part in a ride-along on Instagram. It’ll be streamed on Feb. 23 from 8pm to late.

🗞 In other news

Double hit-and-run. According to Mounties in Coquitlam, two separate drivers were in a hit-and-run on Saturday, just before 10pm. Investigators have shared a description of each car, as well as photos. The victim, a woman, suffered serious injuries.

Flood prep. With the forecasted atmospheric river top of mind, Abbotsford and other surrounding areas are preparing for a deluge of water, though it’s expected to not be as bad as the flooding that took place in 2021. (CityNews Vancouver)

Ibrahim Ali. The man convicted of murdering a teen girl in Burnaby is applying to have his charges stayed. If the application is approved, he won’t be sentenced. (CTV Vancouver)

No recall. An effort to recall the current provincial education minister, Rachna Singh, is not going ahead. (Global BC)

Yoga at the Quay on Instagram

While Yoga at the Quay has been a staple in the community for quite some time, the Quayside-based studio will have its official grand opening and ribbon cutting on Feb. 28 at 2pm.

“Our focus is creating meaningful experiences for anyone who walks through our doors,” says Laura O’Reilly, who founded the studio. “We’re really excited to welcome the community to our space and show them what we’re about and how we can support them on their wellness journey.”

Dragon Bowl. This spot is serving up what it calls “comfort food.” As an example, their beef brisket bowl is just $16.88. They also have vegan options available.
