Hello Anchor friends—it’s Ria!

Every time I travel by the new təməsew̓txʷ, I feel so small as it seems to get bigger and bigger with its build. For what it’s worth, it has been billed as a state-of-the-art centre, and it’s just really cool to see it take shape after what’s felt like forever.

Speaking of təməsew̓txʷ, it is one of the components in today’s feature story. A number of parks and recreation rates are poised to go up, so if you’d like to learn more about how that might impact your purchase of, let’s say, a membership, you’ll want to check out the story below.

THROWBACK THURSDAY

Old school candy

I was going through some of my older tweets and came across one in which I asked the New West Museum and Archives to share their recipe for some of the caramels they’d made with some kids during a workshop. The recipes were each more than 100 years old—they’re from 1877 and 1902, respectively.

Here’s the one they shared with me that is similar! Reply to me and let me know if you try it. You can find the actual recipe in the archives’ reading room.
