Welcome to Thursday, New West!

The other day I spotted a note on the door to my apartment building, announcing the official opening of the Agnes Greenway, happening this Saturday. I’m curious to see how the use of the space will pan out in the years to come, but it’s always nice to see (and hear!) the kiddos scootering, skateboarding, biking, and walking to Qayqat Elementary weekday mornings.

Another recent discovery along the Greenway? Ueno Sakura Japanese restaurant. It opened not too long ago, and on Tuesday night my husband and I finally enjoyed a meal there. The portions (including their pork, shrimp, and chive dumplings) were MASSIVE, and the man at the counter was so friendly. I’ll be back.

They’re not on Instagram as far as I can tell, but they do have a website.

🤤 What kind of food do you enjoy in New West? (PS: drop your favourite restaurant in the comments!)

Pet Ownership Awareness Month

This June, take some time to review the City’s Animal Care and Control Bylaw to ensure you’re meeting your responsibilities as a cat or dog owner.

Some responsibilities for dog owners include ensuring your dog has a valid licence from New Westminster Animal Services, keeping your dog leashed unless on private property or in a designated off-leash area, and picking up your dog’s waste and disposing of it in the trash. For cat owners, ensure your cat has permanent ID (tattoo or microchip) and that your contact information is up to date. Cats that venture outdoors must also be spayed or neutered.

Visit NewWestCity.ca/Pet-Ownership to learn more about your responsibility as a pet owner, and find out how you can win a $100 gift certificate to Bosley’s for your cat or dog!
