Where to get your Christmas tree chipped in and around New Westminster

Some of the events benefit local charities, too

This tree at Herbert Spencer Elementary School would probably take forever to chip...fortunately it stays up all year round and just the lights go off!

It's a beautiful sight... and then it has to come down.

It's always lovely to have a real Christmas tree in the home, and it's always exciting to have it up over the holiday season. In that excitement, we can sometimes forget about the aftermath: "What am I going to do with this tree?"

Fortunately, there are a number of nearby spots that will be chipping Christmas trees this month—and some of these events benefit charities, too.

Just make sure to read all the guidelines for chipping! Some of these locations require trees to be cut before you have 'em chipped, while pretty much all of these locations ask you to bring the trees in "naked" (no tinsel or other decorations left on them).

All municipalities allow for disposal of real Christmas trees on regular pick-up dates if you're able to chop them up and put them in your bin, but as CTV Vancouver points out, there may be some issues with that due to weather-related delays across the region.
