Six amazing New West Happy Hour spots
These bars and restaurants take all the guesswork out of rest and relaxation
You've just come home from another long day at work after sitting in traffic (or packed tight on the SkyTrain), you’ve taken your dog out for a walk, and now all you want to do is sit down, relax, and maybe have a drink or two on a patio.
In fact, you're probably already thinking about where you might be going. Look no further—we’re sharing some great happy hour options in New West.
I’m a sucker for Italian food, so choosing Piva is a no-brainer. I love their meatballs and arancini, but you can’t go wrong with their pizza options, either.
In terms of drinks, all white, rose, and red 5 oz. wine by the glass is 20% off during happy hour. If you want another refreshment, they’ve got Steel & Oak draught beer for $5, spirits for $5, and feature cocktails for $8.
Happy hour is Sunday–Thursday between 4–5pm.
Here, Mexican classics mingle with fresh BC ingredients to produce a familiar but unforgettable feast.
El Santo's menu has great options to get you started, including its guacamole with fresh chips made in-house for $7 or its citrus-cured albacore tuna for $14.
They also take pride in the tequila they serve—it’s high quality and the staff is extremely knowledgeable about each brand’s unique flavour.
Did you know that the key to good tequila is making sure that it’s 100% agave or 100% blue agave? This means that the tequila is only made from the sugars of those plants, which makes for a better flavour without any additives or water distillation.
Happy hour is on from 4-5:30pm every day.
This is a great place for brews and bites.
Paddlewheeler has 22 taps, meaning they are able to offer a wide variety of beer styles, all on a rotating basis. Think lagers, IPAs and stouts galore.
Get your fix of a large basket of fries for $7, chicken strips for $15 (a Paddlewheeler favourite!) or nachos for $10.
Happy hour is on every day from 2-5pm and 8pm-close.
Although this spot doesn’t have happy hour food, it does serve drinks at a very reasonable price—after all, Hops specializes in micro-brews from the Pacific Northwest!
In terms of happy hour specials, though, they’ve got 18 oz. Budweiser Draft for $4.50, 16 oz. Stella Draft for $4.99, 6 oz. Peller Estate Wines for $3.99, and 1 oz. highballs for $3.99.
Dog owners: your pups are welcome to come along and hang out. Hops provides pups with water and treats.
Happy hour is on every day from 3-6pm and 10pm-midnight.
The Goblin Moon at Moodswing includes Matcha, menthe pastille, hojicha gin, orgeat, and oat milk.
655 Front St. is home to Old Crow Coffee Co. during the day and Moodswing at night—Friday and Saturday night, that is.
Moodswing is an experimental and shapeshifting cocktail bar serving up a plant-based menu with delicious cocktails, beer, natural wines, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Try something new and have fun at Moodswing—but you should probably make reservations as the weekends are busy.
Happy hour is from 5-6pm.
They’ve got happy hour from 3-6pm every day, as well as HAPPier hour from 9pm-close between Sunday-Thursday.
If you end up going there late, you’ll be pleased to see they have a list of $6 snacks like chicken tenders and fries, cauliflower bites, chips and salsa, and more. You can pair one of those options with $4 drinks like lagers, house highballs and shooters.
