🥍 Salmonbellies result. It was excitement at Queen’s Park Arena yesterday evening, but unfortunately the Thunder beat the Salmonbellies 11-9. Next game goes Friday at the Langley Events Centre as New West chases its 25th Mann Cup.

🗞 In other news

It finally happened, BUT... After not one but two days of delays, Hullo Ferries—with service between Vancouver and Nanaimo—was finally able to set sail on Wednesday. However, the last two sailings of the day ended up cancelled. (Daily Hive)

Found. The body of 23-year-old Ajay Singh is believed to have been found in Cultus Lake. Singh was on the water in a tube with two women when he disappeared in mid-July. (CTV Vancouver)

Stephanie Patterson. Patterson, who was a councillor for the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) First Nation, has died. She’d been missing since Aug. 11. There has been an arrest in connection to this case, but charges have not been laid. (CBC Vancouver)

New charges. A woman with a history of posing as a nurse is facing new charges. Brigitte Cleroux is said by police to have committed a spate of crimes at a private surgery clinic in the Victoria area. (CBC Vancouver)

Busy times. The Wildlife Rescue Association of BC says it’s getting buried with calls and admissions related to wild animals. Many of these calls are related to drought and heat. (CTV Vancouver)

Can you help? The group Birds Canada is asking for help reporting and identifying dead seabirds, particularly with heat waves and other nature-threatening situations at play, including potential oil spills. (CBC Vanncouver)

New editor. Kyle Balzer has been announced as the new editor for Burnaby Now, The Record, and the Tri-City News. (The Record)
