The New Westminster Salmonbellies are officially just a handful of wins away from another Mann Cup.

They are also the Western League Association champions for this season.

In a series that went to a full seven games, the final match in the Bellies’ series with the Langley Thunder on Tuesday evening started with Langley scoring first.

However, it appeared playing to a full house at Queens Park Arena kept the odds in New West’s favour, and after more than 100 shots between the two teams, the Bellies came out the victor in regulation. The Bellies were also leading at the end of both the first and second period.

The series has been a showstopper, with one of the games in the best-of-seven heading into double overtime.

New Westminster’s next series will see them matched up with the Six Nations Chiefs of Ontario. The Bellies have a total 24 Mann Cups to their name, the most of any team in history.

The series to determine the winner of the Mann Cup for 2023 will begin on Friday, Sept. 8 at Queen’s Park. Tickets are expected to go on sale within the next few days, and you’re encouraged to follow the Salmonbellies on their social media—including X/Twitter for more details.
