Newsletters are becoming a popular way to keep people up-to-date. The point of the New West Anchor is to give you a snapshot of the entire community – but there are other newsletters in New West that focus on specific topics. From arts to business, be sure to subscribe to the publishings below to stay in the know.

Arts and culture

Arts Council of New Westminster: From musical events in Queen’s Park, to what’s happening at the gallery, this newsletter is a dream for the art lover in New West.

Anvil Theatre: Scroll down to the very bottom of the page, and you’ll see the sign-up there. Once you’re in, you’ll be the first to know about upcoming performances and ticket sales for some really cool shows.

Downtown New West: You’ll also find the sign-up for this one at the bottom of the page. This newsletter includes events, things you’ll need to know about the area (like construction) and there are also some great ideas for specific kinds of activities – like where to find a gift for dad on Father’s Day.

The Fraser Reach: This monthly newsletter will tell you what’s happening at the Fraser River Discovery Centre. It’s also a great way to know when special hours (like summer hours) begin.

New West Public Library: Stay up-to-date on the library’s events, programs, and even the latest book recommendations! This is a monthly newsletter.

New West Cultural Services: This newsletter mainly focuses on events happening at the Anvil Centre, but it’s a quick round-up of presentations, programs and events. It comes out about once per month.

Eighth and Eight: Eighth & Eight is the transitional name for the arts and community spaces at 735 Eighth St. You’ll be able to learn about how artists are activating the space, along with what’s happening at The Plaskett Gallery and Multipurpose studios.

Food

Nourish and Knives: New West resident Jen Arbo offers all kinds of recipe ideas and other great cooking tips. This newsletter usually comes out once a week.

Business

Invest New West. This is a monthly newsletter meant to offer tips and tricks for businesses and not-for-profits in the city.

Alignment Ops: Rachel Flood has previously given talks for the city and has some neat strategies for implementing business software. Her newsletter typically comes out once a month.

Additionally, you'll want to give our neighbours the Burnaby Beacon a follow! From time to time, they happen to talk about things of interest to New Westies! (As has been the case for us and the folks from Burnaby.)

*We’re planning to continually update this article, so if you’ve got a newsletter you’d like to share, let us know!
