If you're still looking for gifts for friends and family without having to deal with the insanity of a busy mall, turns out there's a way to do it—while staying local and helping others.
Shine Bright Shop Nights will begin on Thursday, Dec. 8, and each of the following Thursdays: Dec. 15 and 22. While it's an opportunity to enjoy hot drinks, boozy beverages, and festive music, there's also an amazing cause at the heart of it all.
Shops will have places available for people to drop off donations for The Purpose Society's hamper program. Dropping off donations will be an option on Dec. 8 and Dec. 15.
Not-for-profits The Purpose Society and Don't Go Hungry have roots in our community: Purpose Society offers an assortment of local programs in the social, health, educational, and residential field; while Don't Go Hungry feeds more than 1,200 people every Saturday in four locations in South Burnaby and New West. About a third of those fed are children.
The third night—Dec. 22—will be a cash donation night, supporting Don't Go Hungry: A Food Support Program. If you're unable to make it, there is an option to donate online.
