Spring Garden to close on Monday, June 26

The restaurant has been serving up Dim Sum and other delicious Chinese dishes for over a decade

All you local dim sum lovers out there, take note.

Spring Garden, which has been in the New West community for 14 years, has announced the family-run business will be no more as of Monday, June 26.

“It has been over 14 years cooking for and serving for our dear friends and good customers,” Spring Garden explained in a post on their Facebook page. “We appreciate all of the wonderful people who have supported us over the years. We have sold the restaurant. New Westminster will soon enjoy a new restaurant.”

“Chef Calvin immigrated to Canada in 1992, arriving from Guangzhou City, the capital of Guangdong province in China. He and his wife took over this location in 2009,” the about page on the restaurant’s website explains.

While every dish has offered its own uniquely tasty experience, the Dim Sum at Spring Garden was considered one of the best worst kept secrets in the city. It was only served at lunch, and handmade to order; you could either eat it at the restaurant or take it to go.

Chef Calvin and his family are not sure what their plans are just yet, aside from being excited for change and taking a well-earned break.
